Dan Giovannoni

Dan is an award-winning playwright and arts educator from Melbourne. His plays include Jurassica (Red Stitch), Wrecking (Fat Boy Dancing), Cut Snake (Arthur), Two by Two (Little Ones Theatre) and, for young audiences, Bambert’s Book of Lost Stories (Barking Gecko Theatre Company) and Turbine (Malthouse Theatre's Suitcase Series). He has worked as a guest artist and artist-in-residence with companies including Back to Back Theatre, St Martins Youth Arts Centre, Arts Centre Melbourne, No Show and AWESOME Arts. In 2016 Jurassica won the Green Room Association award for Writing/Adaptation for the Australian Stage (Mainstage), and Cut Snake was nominated for the same award in the Independent Theatre category in 2012. Cut Snake also won the Best Emerging Writer award at Melbourne Fringe (with Amelia Evans), and was shortlisted for the Rodney Seaborn Playwright’s award. Dan won the Malcolm Robertson prize for Two by Two and a Drama Victoria award for the education resource he created for Cut Snake. Dan has a Bachelor of Creative Arts from Melbourne University and a Graduate Diploma of Dramatic Art (Playwriting) from NIDA.
